Keto Mojo

The Ketogenic diet is getting quite the raves of late, and I have tried it before and did somewhat well.  However, in the process of going on the diet, I went a little too far on the ketones.  For many people getting in ketosis is a great way to lose weight but if you are diabetic like me, well you really need to pay close attention to what you are doing so that you do not end up in the Hospital. That is what happened to me I did great losing weight and was really feeling better however then ketoacidosis hit.  I already have issues getting pancreatitis as well so this is kind of a double whammy to the gut.

I am starting to get back in the keto diet but learning from my past mistakes and modifying it a bit to be more gentle.  At the same time, I really need to monitor my ketones, and I want to do that in the blood rather than from ketone strips.   Introducing the Keto Mojo which is a blood ketone and glucose meter.

Unpacking the product was simple and if you have used a glucose meter before you should be no stranger to how it works.  Basically, you start by adding a lancet to the lancer and add a strip to the receptacle on the meter.  Then prick your finger and get a good drop of blood and touch it to the strip.  Also don't forget a little hygiene in there as well it never hurts to clean off the area of your finger where you are going to prick etc.  Once the blood gets on the strip enough it beeps and then a few seconds later you get your reading.

I have now had this meter for about 3 days and have been able to check my ketones with various foods that I have eaten.  If I eat proper food my ketones go up and if I eat the wrong things like I did for lunch you can see in the video that my ketones were very low.  I will continue to use it based on how I am feeling the strips are a little expensive.  I believe an average around $1 per strip is what it costs.
